The annual Wisconsin International University College, WIUC Chinese Embassy Scholarship Awards to recognize and reward outstanding students in the Chinese language has been held.

In a statement read on behalf of the Chinese Ambassador, HE. Shi Ting Wang, the Director of Political section of the Chinese Embassy, Miss Catherine Lou Danzhure echoed the importance of learning the Chinese Mandarin language which she describes as the “Golden Key to the future”, adding that the Chinese language is a profound and charming gem of the Chinese civilization and culture spanning 5000 years.

In encouraging the student, Ms Danzhu also reminded them to take their academic work serious couple with the additional skill of the Mandarin to position themselves in the growing bilateral and trade relations between Ghana and China.

She cited an example of the increase in the number of newly added investment and trade volume in 2018 which exceeded 7 billion US dollars in addition to 6,500 Ghanaian students currently studying in China as evidence of the opportunities.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Obeng Mireku while commending the students urged them to utilize the knowledge and skills they have acquired in the Chinese Mandarin in their everyday life especially in the face of an increasing China influence in the global economy, while pledging the University’s continued support for students towards equipping them with the requisite knowledge and skills to face the future with confidence.

Also present at the ceremony was Registrar of the University and some faculty and management members.
