Akuapem Traditional Council mourns with Naadu Mills

The Akuapem Traditional Council has sent its deepest condolence to Mrs. Ernestina Naadu Mills on the death of President John Evans Atta Mills.

The Traditional Council, in a statement issued at Akropong Akuapem and signed by the President of the Council, Oseadeeyo Addo-Dankwa III, and copied to the Ghana News Agency said the unexpected departure of Professor Mills was indeed a big loss for the whole nation and wished the former First Lady the protection of God in these difficult times.

It said Prof Mills’ humility and deep insight served the country well and his calming demeanor which provided a stabilizing atmosphere, was a mark of excellence, worthy of emulation.

The statement said the Akuapem State had cherished the late President’s commitment to education and the show of the fear of God in all his endeavours, describing them “as legacies that Prof. Mills would forever be remembered for, particularly by the Akuapem State.

The statement said the best memorial and befitting honour for the late President was to uphold peace, before, during and after the December polls because it is one value, which Prof. Mills cherished and lived all his life for.

The Traditional Council also expressed pride in the manner in which the baton of office was passed to President John Mahama and expressed the hope that he would perform to expectation as the prayers of the traditional council and that of many Ghanaians are with him.**
