VRA Hospital receives medical supplies

The Volta River Authority on Thursday received quantities of medical and surgical equipment estimated at several hundreds of Ghana Cedis from the Canadian Commercial Corporation (CCC), to assist in quality health care delivery.

Mr. John Barley, Vice President of Megellan Aerospace who represented the CCC team stated that the medical equipment and consumables were to improve and promote effective health care services within the VRA’s catchment area.

He said the donation symbolized a goodwill gesture intended to build a lasting relationship between the VRA and the community as a whole, adding, “There is no better way to contribute to the welfare of our new found friends than improving their health”.

Mr. Barley urged the hospital authorities to make good use of the equipment.

Mr. Stephen Doku, Director of Special Engineering Projects, recounted various contribution in the areas of school buildings, award of scholarships, roads, public places of convenience and cold store aimed at improving the general well-being of people within its operational area.

Mr. Enoch Appiah, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Shama, was grateful to the VRA and its partners for enhancing the quality of lives of the people within the district since the VRA’s inception in 1994.

Dr. Divine Amexo, VRA Hospital Superintendent who received the equipment, expressed gratitude to the donors and assured them of the hospital’s commitment to use the facilities and equipment to enhance health care delivery in the area.**
