Women's groups in South-Dayi benefit from 400 million cedis micro-credit-DCE

Kpeve, (V/R), Dec. 28, GNA- The government has so far made a total of 400 million cedis available to some women's groups engaged in various productive activities in the South-Dayi district. The beneficiary groups are in Dzemeni, Wegbe-Kpalime, Peki-Dzake and Kpeve. Mrs Woyram Boakye-Danquah, District Chief Executive for South-Dayi announced this at a demonstration workshop on smokeless hearths (stoves) for 100 rural women from the Hohoe, Ho Municipal Assembly and South-Dayi districts at Kpeve on Wednesday. The workshop was organized by the Volta Regional Directorate of the Department of Women as part of its environment programme.

Mrs Boakye-Danquah assured women to trust government to fulfill its promise to open micro-finance avenues to them to set up and grow their businesses. She said such assistance might take some time in coming but the seeming delays were because, due processes must be followed to ensure that the packages were well implemented.

Mrs. Boakye-Danquah therefore urged women who have applied for such assistance to be patient and follow-up constantly to the assemblies to be abreast with the latest developments regarding their applications and the work of the assemblies in general. She said their interest in the work of the assemblies and their representatives would help to keep the assemblies on their toes, especially in addressing their peculiar problems as women.
