The Executive Director of the National Board for Small Scale Industries says about 18,000 jobs have been created through their intervention.

According to her, several other people have also received professional skills training.

“The beauty of our work is that we interface and work closely with the people on the ground to register their businesses. We have programs on value chains, training programs among others. Last year, in a town such as Hohoe we had about 700 youth trained and supported them in ways possible to help them start their business.

“We’re in the localities and close to the people. I’ll urge all who’ll need our services to come to us. As a matter of fact, we go to the people as well. We have been able to create over 18,000 jobs through our interventions,” she told Francis Abban on the Morning Starr.

She, however, bemoaned the fact that Ghanaian businesses do not like partnership.

“In Ghana, many do not like partnerships and that is a challenge. People have been burnt in the past and so do not want any form of partnerships. We do a lot for businesses and entrepreneurs. I think that over the years, we haven’t advertised well enough for people to know what we have to offer. This comes back to the issue of lack of resources”.
