Residents of Walewale in the West Mamprusi District of the Northern Region say they are living in fear following the increasing cases of robbery attacks in the area.

In less than two months more than three cases of violent robberies have been recorded with the last being Monday evening where a mobile money vendor was shot to death.

They are calling on the police to up their game in the wake of the insecurity situation in the indicating that the targets of the robbers are mostly business people and other residents who have constantly attacked in the last couple of months.

District Police Commander DSP Bempah Sarpong, revealed that adequate security measures have been put in place to protect lives and property in the area appealing to residents to volunteer information about suspicious characters to his outfit.

A forty (40) year old driver, Abdul Razak Amadu was on Monday evening shot to death by masked armed men at a mobile money vendor shop where he had gone to transact business.

According to the police chief, three armed men who were on one motorbike fired indiscriminately towards the vendor’s shop where the deceased and was transacting business and in the process he was hit by a stray bullet resulting in his death.

Two others who sustained gunshot wounds were admitted at the Walewale Government Hospital and are currently undergoing treatment.
