Wa Municipal takes delivery of 2,000 school uniforms

Charia (UW), July 15, GNA - The Wa Municipal Assembly has taken delivery of the first consignment of 2,000 free school uniforms for distribution to children of basic schools in the Municipality, Mr. Duogu Yakubu, Wa Municipal Chief Executive, has said.

He said the Municipality had also been allocated 298,890 exercise books which would soon be transported to the Municipal Education Office for distribution.

Mr Yakubu said this during the inauguration of a six unit classroom block and a kindergarten at Charia in the Wa Municipality.

The two projects were completed at a cost of GH¢188,104.00 and were funded by the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund).

He said the completion of the project and many others did not only give credence to government's firm resolve to tackle the infrastructure needs of all basic schools in the country but also brought into focus all other development projects carried out in the last 12 months.

"We have indeed had our fair share of the education slices and therefore should complement government's effort by supporting all development initiatives in the Municipality," Mr Yakubu said.

He appealed to all parents to take advantage of the government's pro-poor education interventions and send their children to school.
