The robustness of the Ghanaian economy is being tested in these times of crisis and the president, has shown leadership and concern for the ordinary Ghanaian, says Vice President Bawumia.

Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia who was speaking to some journalists at the Jubilee House on Monday, May 4, said President Akufo-Addo in the face of the Coronavirus pandemic has taken some bold steps his predecessor could not take when he was struggling to deal with the dumsor crisis that occurred during his tenure.

“[The] President has reduced electricity prices, made it free for lifeline consumers, has given free water for all Ghanaians for three months, has made sure that there is a stimulus package of GHC600m for businesses,” he stated.

He continued: “And we have seen domestic production of personal protective equipment (PPE) for our health workers locally.”

Dr Bawumia noted that the difference between the NPP leadership under Akufo-Addo and the NDC leadership under Mahama “couldn’t be more stark”.

He then asked, “Who will you trust in a time of crisis...the answer is very very clear, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo...”

Ghana has now recorded 2,719 cases of COVID-19 and 65 additional recoveries making the total recoveries 294, according to the Ghana Health Service (GHS). The death toll, however, remains the same at 18.
