The Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram constituency, Sam George Nartey has also added his voice to the recent attacks on police by civilians. These actions have resulted in a state of insecurity in the country

On Thursday, the Member of Parliament took to his Facebook page to condemn the Vice- President, Mahamudu Bawumia who happens to be the Chairman of the Police Council for his silence over the attacks. He wrote,

“5 Policemen killed in the last 30 days! Truly alarming state of insecurity. The Chairman of the Police Council is mute! Sad!”

The Police should be allowed to do their work without any interference from the Office of the President or Flagstaff house, this he believes will boost their morale.

The matter of insecurity in the country according Sam George goes beyond the killing of the MTTD Officers, the ordinary Ghanaian should be assured of their safety.

“Until the funeral of the slain policeman he (Vice-President) had not spoken, he was silent. The Police Service are supposed to be the frontline of security, it’s become easy, and it’s become normal for people to attack Police Officers …. I mean going to stand at the funeral and say that MTTD Officers are going to go with firearms, how that does change the situation?” he added

The Police Service has meanwhile affirmed that ‘they are on top of their job’ and stand no chance of being intimidated by these attacks. The perpetrators of the recent murder of the two police officers at Gomoa Buduburam on Wednesday have since been arrested, they are helping with polices’ investigations into the murder case.

Ghana as a country is known by neighboring and foreign countries as a peaceful State, however much cannot be said about us with the recent cases of insecurity. These cases have dented our security.
