Seikwa chiefs invite gov’t to burial of Nana Ankoana

The Traditional leaders from Seikwa Traditional Council in the Brong-Ahafo Region, has officially invited government to attend the burial of Nana Kwaku Dwumah Ankoana II, Paramount Chief and President of the Council.

The late Nana Ankoana was shot in the chest by unknown assailants while he was relaxing in a porch in his private residence in Seikwa on Monday, November 4, 2013.

Mr Eric Opoku, Regional Minister led a delegation of chiefs and elders from the traditional area to announced the passing and burial of the late Paramount chief to Vice President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur at the Flagstaff House in Accra.

Nana Asuma Karikari, Akyeame Hene of the Council presented schnapps and other drinks on behalf of the delegation to government to invite them to attend the funeral.

He announced the burial arrangements which start on Friday, August 15, with the final preparations towards the burial, Saturday August 16, laying in state and firing of muskets, August 17.

There will be sitting in State of Nananom and other dignitaries and on August 18, the interment of Nana Kwaku Dwumah Ankoana II at the Royal mausoleum in Seikwa.

He said due to the strong bond between the Tain District and the State, the traditional leaders of Seikwa cannot organise the burial of the late chief without informing government about it.

Vice President Amissah-Arthur expressed the condolence of the government to the bereaved family and elders of the Council.

He said the circumstances under which the late Paramount chief died, was unfortunate and assured of government resolved to bring those who committed the dastardly act to book.

Mr Amissah-Arthur said President John Dramani Mahama has promised to attend the burial of the late chief after attending that of the late P.V. Obeng on August 15.

He also assured of government support to ensure that the late Nana Ankoana is given a befitting burial.
