Rawlings signs book of condolence in memory of Justice Annan

Accra, Sept. 26, GNA - Former President Jerry John Rawlings on Tuesday led a delegation of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to sign a book of condolence at the Ga Mantse Palace in Accra in memory of the late Mr Justice Daniel Francis Annan, Former Speaker of Parliament. The Former President said he preferred to make a comment on the loss of the Former Speaker at a later time, but, however, wrote: "You were indeed a man of noble character. One of the finest this nation had the privilege of having as a leader during our most trying times. "You gave the best of yourself. Rest in Peace." Former Vice President John Evans Atta Mills also wrote: "It was a privilege to have known and worked closely with Mr Justice Annan during the last 10 years.

"He was a great jurist, an accomplished politician and sportsman and above all a decent human being.

"Ghana owes him a debt of gratitude as one of the architects of peace and stability that we are enjoying and taking for granted." Other members of the Delegation, who signed the book, were Mr Victor Gheho, a Member of Council of Elders of NDC; Mr Enoch Teye Mensah, MP for Ningo Prampram and Mr Jonathan Tackie Commey, MP for the Odododiodoo Constituencies.

The Delegation presented four bottles of aromatic schnapps and 500,000 cedis to the family.

Mr Justice Annan would be buried on October 6.
