Philips introduces new product

Royal Philips Company (Philips), a global leader in electronics, has released its new ultra-mobile ultra sound system, “VISIQ” into the Ghanaian market as part of the Accra leg of its annual pan-African “Cairo to Cape Town Road show”.

The VISIQ is a Tablet-sized miniaturised ultra sound system that aids to easily diagnose patients at affordable fees. The device was launched at a press briefing last Tuesday in Accra.

The General Manager for Philips Africa, Mr Peter Van de Ven, stated that Philips remained committed to supporting Ghana’s healthcare needs.

He said Philips would continue to demonstrate its dedicated support to the Ministry of Health in its mission to reduce child mortality rates, improve maternal health, meet the UN Millennium Goals 4&5 and revitalise Ghana’s healthcare infrastructure needs.

Mr Van de Ven also added that VISIQ allowed clinicians to provide ultrasound in a variety of clinical environments and offer soon-to-be parents the comfort of having regular prenatal check-ups.

The Managing Director for Philips West Africa Hub, Mr Abdallah H. Khamis, said Philips would soon introduce a state-of-the-art energy deficient LED and solar lighting solutions in Ghana. He said Philips was committing 20 solar light centres in Ghana, with seven of them already inaugurated across the country.

Mr Khamis also pointed out that Philips would soon inaugurate a new solar powered LED light centre at the cluster of schools at Nima. He also stated that Philips had revitalised the historic Black Star monument at the Independence Square with digital LED illumination.
