Omanhene of Acherensua escapes death in motor accident

Kubease (Ash), March 11 GNA- Agyewodin Adu Gyamfi Ampem II, Paramount Chief of Acherensua Traditional Area, in the Brong Ahafo Region at the weekend escaped death when a vehicle on which he was travelling from Accra to Kumasi somersaulted when one of the front tyres burst. The incident occurred at Kubease near Ejisu on the Kumasi-Accra highway.

The Chief was said to be on board the vehicle with the Queen of Acherensua, Nana Ama Saah, his wife, Mrs Cecilia Kesse and the driver only identified as Kwadwo.

Mr James Kwantri Ashley, a relative of the Chief who briefed the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on the incident said the Agyewodin Gyamfi Ampeh was on his way to Kumasi after attending Ghana's 50th Independence Anniversary parade in Accra.

He sustained injury on the legs and other parts of the body and is on admission at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology Hospital.

His wife is also on admission at the same Hospital, while Nana Saah who was in a critical condition due to the multiple injuries she sustained was on admission at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH). The driver is also receiving medical attention at KATH. Police source at Ejisu confirmed the accident to the GNA.
