With the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) National Delegates Conference scheduled for January 2026, Peter Martey, Treasurer of the Obuasi Local GNAT, is calling for a clean and respectful campaign from all aspirants vying for leadership positions.

Martey, also known as MP, stressed the importance of decency and sportsmanship in the lead-up to the conference, noting that while the pursuit of leadership can be intense, all candidates share the common goal of advancing GNAT and promoting the welfare of its members.

“A clean campaign will not only uphold the dignity of the association but also foster an environment of mutual respect among members,” Martey stated.

He urged aspirants to focus on critical issues relevant to members, such as improving teacher welfare, advocating for better educational resources, and enhancing GNAT’s role in national development. By centering discussions on these issues, he believes the association will benefit from more meaningful and impactful debates.

Mr. Martey further noted that a clean campaign encourages healthy competition, ensuring that the best candidates emerge based on merit and vision. This, he added, would set a positive precedent for future conferences and reinforce GNAT’s commitment to ethical leadership and governance.

The Obuasi GNAT local, under Martey’s leadership as Treasurer, is committed to promoting a campaign marked by respect and integrity. He called on senior GNAT members, council members, GNATEC, and the GNAT Executive to engage with aspirants and their supporters, encouraging a positive and issue-driven approach.

“In the end, regardless of the election outcome, we will all be working towards a common goal: the betterment of GNAT and the education sector in Ghana,” Martey concluded, expressing hope for a successful conference and a bright future for the association.
