Nana Addo is a decisive leader - DAMAZ

One of the major stakeholders which championed the restoration of peace in Dagbang, the Dagbang Malima Zungo (DAMAZ) has touted President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as a decisive leader.

According to the Chairman, Alhaji Jagbo Baako, the President by his action demonstrated that he is indeed a great leader who walks his talk.

"We thank the current president, His Excellency, Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo for the formidable role he played in implementing the committee’s report to the latter without fear or favor to the admiration of all."

"In fact, Your Excellency you have proven to the people of Dagbang that you are a decisive leader."

He commended previous governments for their attempts but maintained that Nana Addo's administration set an unprecedented record in solving the Dagbang chieftaincy matters.

Alhaji Jagbo Baako at a news conference in Tamale added that the Northern Regional Minister, Salifu Sae-ed deserved an outstanding reward for a job well executed.

"Mr. President, we thank you for choosing for us a young, dynamic, firm and committed individual as our Regional Minister. Mr President, we suspect that you consulted the oracles of Dagbang before his choice to the Region."

"We would like to say a special thank you to the Northern Regional Minister Honourable Salifu Sae-ed (You can be sure) for risking his life and political future to ensure that peace is returned to Dagbon. You are an inspiration to us, the youth of this area."

To the Asantehene led Mediation Committee, he stated, "We would like to commend the Committee of Eminent Chiefs comprising of His Majesties, the Asantehene, Otumfour Osei Tutu II, the Nayiri, Mahami Bohagu Sheriga and the Yagbonwurra, Tuntumba Borisa Sulemana Jakpa for the effort made in healing the wounds of yesteryears of Dagbang."

"Please permit us to thank the wise King of the Asante Kingdom, His Majesty Otumfour Osei Tutu II for his tolerance, patience, accommodating, statesmanship and wise guidance throughout the mediation process. There were days when we called on you during odd hours and you responded.
Even in the face of adversity you showed statesmanship in tackling the issue till the end. The Dagbang kingdom would remain grateful to you."

He further thanked the Ministers of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Kofi Dzamesi and National Security, Albert Kandapah for their support and encouragement.

"To the Ministers of Chieftaincy and National Security we appreciate your hard work during the process."

"We cannot forget our Imams and Pastors for their prayers. We acknowledge REGSEC and the Yendi MUSEC especially the security commanders and their men on the ground for their for exhibiting extremely professionalism in combating crimes before, during and after the funerals of the late two kings as well as the enskinment of the new king of Dagbang."

He praised the Abudu and the Andani Royals for their peaceful conduct during the implementation of the final roadmap.

"The people of Dagbang, especially the Abudu and the Andani royal families, must be congratulated for the successful implementation of the final Roadmap to Peace that was presented to His Excellency, President of the Republic of Ghana at the Jubilee House in November last year by His Majesty, Otunfour Osei Tutu II."

"The two families must be commended for ensuring that the funerals of Ya-Naa Mahamadu Abdulai IV and Ya-Naa Yakubu Andani were held and concluded peacefully as scheduled, bringing us to this very joyous moment."

Alhaji Jagbo Baako pleaded with the Yaa-Naa Abukari Mahama II to as a matter of urgency enskin the Kampakuya-Naa Abdulai Yakubu Andani and the Boling-Lana Abdulai Mahamadu.

Alhaji Jagbo Baako expected that there would be no more Dagbang chieftaincy politics during the 2020 campaign season.

"We are by this medium sending a word of Caution to the politicians in Ghana especially those from our part of country, some of whom shamelessly use our unfortunate situation for their political gains desist from it henceforth or have themselves to blame. If chieftaincy is the only means to your political power please do the right thing by changing a job."

DAMAZ

The Dagbang Malima Zungo (DAMAZ) was the lead advocate for the successful completion and implementation of the final roadmap to peace restoration in Dagbang.

As a civil society group, its members attended all meetings at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.

The three Eminent Kings Mediation Committee was in a constant touch with the DAMAZ leadership for their impartial generosity and kindness.

The DAMAZ leadership organized series of news conferences, radio talk shows and peace marches in Tamale.

The Chairman, Alhaji Jagbo Baako and some other members in the studio of Tamale based Radio Justice were beaten to pulp during a live radio discussion on the implementation of the final roadmap.

Genesis

On September 13, 2017, the DAMAZ was officially launched in Tamale in an effort to unite the people of Dagbang to smoke the peace pipe.

The initiative aimed at rekindling efforts to achieve peace in Dagbang and to attract investors and development partners.

The initiative was by the Northern Regional Coordinating Council (REGSEC) in partnership with the Dagbang Malima Zungo (DAMAZ) network.

It formed part of government’s agenda to permanently resolve the Dagbang chieftaincy dispute between the Abudu and Andani Royals.
