NYEP employs 576 youth in Ejisu-Juaben

Ejisu, (Ash), March 9, GNA - The National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP) has provided job for about 576 youth in the Ejisu-Juaben district of Ashanti, since its implementation.

Mr Owusu Kofi Yeboah, district co-ordinator of the programme, who made this known in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, said 180 out of the number are working with the Ghana Education Service while 300 are with the Ministry of Food and Agriculture.

He said 60 are working with the Ghana Health Service and 26 with the Environmental and Sanitation Agency.

Mr Yeboah said the employees had started receiving their monthly salaries and appealed to the youth who had not yet registered to do so. He said preparations were far advanced to employ some of the youth as community protection assistants to assist the police in maintaining law and order in the communities.

Mr Yeboah charged the beneficiaries to be committed and show respect to their superior officers in order to gain the necessary experiences for future endeavours.

He appealed to the employees not be complacent but aim to further their education in order to obtain permanent and decent employment in future. 09 March 07
