Member of Parliamentfor Mampong, Kwaku Ampratwum-Sarpong says the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will not tolerate disrespect from colleague MPs from the Minority side.

Describing some of the Minority MPs as “babies with sharp teeth”, Mr. Ampratwum-Sarpong said it is disrespectful for their colleagues on the other side of the House to wrongfully accuse some majority members of some illegalities.

His comments come on the back of a verbal exchange between Foreign Affairs Minister, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey and North Tongu MP, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, in the lobby of Parliament on Monday, December 17.

The two were seen in a video taking a go at each other after Mr. Okudzeto Ablakwa earlier accused the Foreign Affairs Minister of inflating some figures for the purchase of an a building for chancery in Oslo, Norway.

Ms. Ayorkor Botchwey was seen in the video confronting the MP about the issues at the lobby of Ghana’s Parliament.

The video also showed Ningo Prampram MP, Samuel Dzata George recording the confrontation with his phone, a something Ms Ayorkor Botchwey was not happy with.

Commenting on the matter on Accra-based Onua FM Tuesday, the MP for Mampong who is also the deputy ranking member on the Foreign Affairs Committee in Parliament, said the fact that Parliament is a ground for everyone to air their views does not grant anyone the leeway to accuse others without any substance.

He told host of Yen Nsempa, Bright Akwesi Asempa that Mr. Okudzeto Ablakwa’s attitude was unacceptable.

“The babies with sharp teeth approach would not be accepted any longer, because we are ready to show them that there are adults with sharp teeth,” he warned.

“We won’t condone the babies with sharp teeth attitude. Here in Ghana, we comport ourselves, because in other jurisdiction, you’ll find people fighting, hitting women, throwing chairs and slapping themselves,” Mr. Ampratwum-Sarpong emphasized.

He stated that the said allegation by the North Tongu MP about the Foreign Affairs Ministry purchasing an apartment in Norway is false.

“Government has not acquired any building nor made any payment, hence if you accuse me falsely, what do you imply?

“If they have babies with sharp teeth, we also have adults with sharp teeth. We’ll meet them boot for boot in 2019,” he said firmly.
