More than 40 communities in South Tongu District now have access to potable water

Residents numbering about 15,000 in more than 40 communities in the South Tongu District of the Volta Region to now have access to portable drinking water after several years of suffering to have access to potable water is one of the necessities of life.

In this COVID-19 era where frequent use of water for hand washing is advised, the people of these communities are finally set to follow that instruction as water is now coming to their doorsteps.

According to the Member of Parliament for the area, Hon. Wisdom Mensah Woyome, the move is part of his personal contribution to gradually eradicate the suffering people in his district go through to get water and even from unsafe sources and also, to ensure that his constituents live in a good hygienic condition in these difficult times.

Hon. Woyome however, revealed that he serviced the district’s broken down fire tender of the Ghana National Fire Service and fuelled it for use in extending the water tanker services to the communities.

He further renew his call on government to expedite action on the complete overhauling and expansion of the non-functioning Agordome Water Treatment Plant and Pipe System to ensure distribution and extension of treated water supply to the Sogakope Township as well as its environs in Hon. Emmanuel Xedzro, Assembly member for Yorkutikpo-Atsieve Electoral Area and many other Assembly members of electoral areas in the district showered praises on the MP for the great humanitarian initiative and described his gesture as timely.
