Missing Takoradi girls: Graphic apologises to CID boss

The Graphic Communications Group has rendered an unqualified apology to the Director-General of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), COP Maame Tiwaa Addo Danquah for misrepresenting her about the three kidnapped Takoradi girls.

COP Maame Tiwaa Addo Danquah in an interview with Accra-based Atinka TV last week disclosed that her earlier comments about the whereabouts of the girls were misconstrued by the media but a report on graphic.com.gh claimed she made those comments aimed at giving hope to the parents of the victims.

But in a latest publication, the state-owned media house has apologized for the misrepresentation stating “This story has been edited to reflect the CID boss’ explanation that when she said the missing girls had been located, she had said that it gave the police hope of rescuing them. Our story had earlier claimed she had said the claim had aimed at giving hope to families of the girls. We apologise to the CID boss and to our readers for the mix-up”

The three girls, Ruth Quayson, Priscilla Blessing Bentum and Priscilla Koranchie are believed to have been kidnapped between August 2018 and January 2019 and have since not been found.

The main suspect in the kidnapping, Samuel Udoetuk-Wills a Nigerian has been convicted for attempting to escape lawful custody after he escaped from jail in December 2018 following his first arrest.

The Ghana Police Service has however revealed that it is working round the clock to find the girls and reunite them with their families after several months into the incident.
