Fresh information from the Northern Regional Police Command suggests that the Toyota Hilux pick-up with registration number ER 3516-19 belonging to the Savannah Regional Coordinating Council (SRCC) may not have been robbed after all as claimed.

Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) DSP Yusif Tanko revealed on Joy News monitored by MyNewsGh.com that the account of Alhaji Sulemana Illiasu is conflicting pointing to the likelihood he may have personally aided in the disappearance of the vehicle.

“Alhaji Sulemana Illiasu is the person who the Minister left the vehicle in his custody when he was travelling. Initially, it was this Alhaji who made the complaint to the police…the other person is the driver who the vehicle was handed over to give to Alhaji Illiasu, he has been granted police enquiry bail but Alhaji Illiasu is still in police custody trying to assist us with investigations” he revealed.

DSP Yusif Tanko added “their accounts are contradictory. In the case of Alhaji Illiasu, he initially told us the vehicle was robbed from his house at gunpoint but so far the investigation that we have undertaken and the facts that are coming to us does not indicate the vehicle was robbed from the house but was taken from a different location that is if even it was robbed”

He revealed that police are still unraveling the mystery behind the disappearance of the vehicle and secure good charges to prefer against the suspect.

On 4th of July, 2019, the Savannah Regional Minister Hon. Adam Salifu was traveling to Accra by flight for a meeting and parked his Toyota Hilux pick up with registration number ER 3516-19 at Alhaji IIliasu’s house.

According to the account of Alhaji Illiasu, on 6th of July, 2019, at about 9:00pm two armed men wielding AK 47 riffles reportedly went to the house of Illiasu and took the vehicle away.

He claimed the robbers also took away the victim’s iPhone 7plus and Samsung A6plus mobile phones and cash of GH¢200.00 and took him to an unknown location where they dropped him off and went away with the vehicle.
