MP for Nsuta-kwmang-Beposo supports Association of the Blind

Ankamadowa (Ash), Oct 10, GNA- Mr Kwame Osei Agyemang- Prempeh, Member for Parliament (MP) for Nsuta-Kwamang-Beposo, has presented school bags and other items to the Sekyere West branch of the Ghana Association of the Blind (GAB). The other items include sewing materials, school uniforms, shoes and sandals for the school going children of the members of the GAB to enable them attend school.

Mr Agyeman-Prempeh said he has so far used over GH=A22,000 of the MP's Common Fund to such items to school children in the area. Mr Kwaku Boateng, Vice-Chairman of the Sekyere West branch of the GAB made this known in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at Ankamadowa, near Nsuta on Monday.

He expressed his gratitude to the MP for his support and hoped that the assistance would help their children acquire formal education. Mr Boateng said the Association has established an eight-hectare oil-palm plantation at Ankamadowa and that proceeds from the farm would be used in supporting members. The Vice-Chairman said the Association was also planning to purchase a corn-mill to be installed at Ankamadowa, and appealed to the Sekyere West District Assembly to come to their aid.

Mr Boateng, who was adjudged the best cassava farmer in the district in 1998 also appealed to his colleagues to strive and invest in other ventures to support themselves instead of begging for alms. He commended the assembly for providing an office accommodation at Ankamadowa and urged non-members to join the association to enable them pursue a common agenda for their benefit. 10 Oct. 07
