The leader of the United Front Party (UFP), Nana Agyenim Boateng, has described the Lands and Natural Resources Minister’s three-week ultimatum to illegal miners to halt their activities as government steps up the fight against illegal mining popularly called ‘galamsey’ as “a joke”.

Nana Agyenim Boateng said “it is a joke and lack of good leadership on the part of the government.

They must meet the people and solve it amicably”. The Lands and Natural Resources Minister, John Peter Amewu last week issued a three-week ultimatum to illegal miners to halt their activities, saying, all illegal miners who fail to stop their activities would be made to face the full rigours of the law.

Nana Agyenim Boateng, also known as Gyataba speaking on Onua FM’s Ghana Dadwnene on the way to fight galamsey said “if they go by force, they will fail. The approach should not be violence”.

He suggested that “they [government] should use the military but if they use the Rambo style approach it will fails”.
