IGP awards four police officers

Four police officers who apprehended suspected cable thieves including a police inspector have been awarded by the Inspector General of Police.

The Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Alhassan, was full of praise for the four, calling on other police officers to emulate them.

The four, Inspector Slyvanus Yaw Kpogli, Detective Corporal Anthony Amponsah, Lance Corporal Richard Awuni Abugri and Constable Kwame Ofori, after chancing on the cable thieves in the act, are reported to have refused a ten thousand cedi bribe the suspected thieves offered them.

Speaking at that award ceremony in Accra, the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Alhassan indicated that the integrity displayed by the officers in the whole country deserves commendation.

According to him, although the police administration in “recent times has been in the news for perceptions, allegations and some concerns with respect to professionalism and some unethical conducts displayed by some members of the service, your singular example has gone to indicate to all that the generality of the men and women are ready and conscious and that they are professionals in whatever they undertake.”

The IGP also urged them on and called on them “to be shining examples to their colleagues.”

Meanwhile, one of the four, Detective Corporal Anthony Amponsah on behalf of his other colleagues thanked the IGP for the honour.
