The King of Ghana’s industrial City, Tema, Dr. Nii Adjei Kraku ll, has urged for patience in the wake of the discovery of some mortal remains suspected to be the bodies of the three kidnapped Takoradi girls.

In an exclusive interview, with the Ghana News Agency in Accra on Wednesday, Nii Tema said the crime was depravity that called for justice rather than unguarded speculations and name-calling, saying the proper thing for the nation to do is to wait and expect justice from President Akufo-Addo.

“Situations like these are not easy; it is not easy for the family, it is not easy for the nation and it is not easy for the Government. But I trust in the wisdom of our President to find the befitting justice for this crime that is so alien to our country.”

Dr. Adjei Kraku ll, therefore, asked for a stop to all speculations as the Police performed forensic investigations on the bodies to ascertain whether the remains belonged to the three girls.

“Until we really confirm for ourselves that these are the remains of our sisters, our daughters, I do not think that the speculations and name callings are healthy for any of us,” Nii Tema said.

He added that it was his prayer that the bodies were not those of the three kidnapped girls. “We are all on tenterhooks and praying that the bodies are not for these hapless girls, but no matter what happens, I trust President Akufo-Addo to find the right justice for us,” Nii Tema said.

Last week, operatives from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police discovered some decomposed bodies dumped in a manhole in the Western region, after they acted on a tip-off.

The Police informant claimed that the decomposed bodies were those of Ruth Love Quayeson, Priscilla Blessing Bentum and Priscilla Koranchie who went missing between August 2018 and January 2019.

Preliminary investigations showed they were raped before murder.

The Police have announced a decision to subject the bodies to forensic probe, but many fear the bodies may be those of the kidnapped victims because they were retrieved in a manhole near the former place where the main suspect in the case, Samuel Udoetuk-Wills, used to stay.

Since the discovery, there have been speculations with detractors of the Government trying to take advantage of the development to blame President Akufo-Addo.

There are even people who were speculating that the bodies were planted by the Police with the intent to bring an end to the case which was ongoing since last year, because elections were in the corner and the Government wants to enter the 2020 polls with a clean image.

“Those who are trying to make political capital out of this painful development are being insensitive to the distress and pain of the families, and indeed all Ghanaians. I call on them to please cease,” Dr. Adjei Kraku ll said.

The Tema Mantse reiterated his faith in President Akufo-Addo’s ability to give befitting justice to the victims.
