I don’t regret civil war comment – Major (rtd) Boakye Gyan

Major (rtd) Boakye Gyan says he does not regret his incendiary remark that evokes bloodshed, should the Electoral Commission stay the course in relation to the compilation of new voters register.

“Look, if you’re cautioning a child, who does not understand what’s between hot and cold water and he’s moving towards the hot water,…hey don’t do it! Have you committed any crime? You’re warning the Child about the consequences of something he doesn’t know that would affect you and the parent equally” he explained in an interview with Anopa Kasapa Morning Show host Kweku Owusu Adjei on Kasapa 102.5 FM.

Meanwhile, Osahene clarified that he was invited by the CID to Accra to answer questions in relation to the matter, but declined the invitation and rather requested to host the security officials in his home as a result of his old age.

He however failed to give details about what transpired in that meeting with the CID officials.

On a local radio station, Jaman Radio, Major (rtd) Boakye Gyan said the NPP had ‘cooked up figures’ already which the party seeks to legitimize.

This, he said, had accounted for the EC’s insistence on compiling a new voters’ register.

“This party (NPP) won power with the biggest electoral margin so what has gone wrong? This morning, I overheard an NPP activist on radio claiming if elections are held today, Nana Addo will be re-elected with a difference of 1,300,000 votes,” he said.

“See, the NPP members have cooked up the figures already. They are simply looking for the means to legitimize their rigging and that is why they want to undertake the registration exercise,” he alleged, and exclaimed, “If they want civil war they will get it!” he warned.

This comes after an NPP activist on Jaman Radio claimed if elections are held today, Nana Addo will be re-elected with some one million, three hundred thousand votes difference and that triggered the issues.
