Government donates money in support of Adja-Tekpor's funeral

Ho, Nov. 3, GNA - The Government on Friday presented a cheque for 119 million cedis to the Avatime Traditional Council in support of the final funeral rites of the late Osie Adja-Tekpor VI, Paramount Chief of the Avatime Traditional Area.

Mr Kofi Dzamesi, Volta Regional Minister, who presented the cheque, stated that the donation was to express government's appreciation of the good works of Osie Adja-Tekpor when he was alive.

He said the money should be used to subsidize the cost of hiring of chairs, tents and refreshment among other things.

The Minster urged the Traditional Area to uphold peace during and after the funeral rites to ensure rapid development of the area. Mr Charles Adobor, Regent of the Traditional Area, who received the cheque on behalf of the Council, expressed gratitude to the government and assured that the money would be put to good use. Osie Adja-Tekpor died two years ago and would be laid to rest on Saturday, November 18, this year.
