Fire destroys property of GBC accountant in Cape Coast

Cape Coast, May 16, GNA - Property worth over 37 million cedis belonging to Mr Joseph Ahumah Quarshie, Accountant of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) in Cape Coast, was destroyed when fire gutted his house last Saturday after a heavy down pour. Items destroyed included a television set, computer, set of furniture, a refrigerator, books and 580,000 cedis cash.

Mr Frank Mensah, Assistant Station Officer of Ghana National Fire Service, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Cape Coast on Tuesday, said it took fire service personnel about 45 minutes to put out the fire that started at about 1900 hours. He said an explosion in Mr Quarshie's television set due to an electrical fault caused the fire.
