Feyiase Akoyem gets new police station

The Paramount Chief of Adansi-Fomena, Okofo Sobin Kan, has inaugurated a police station and living quarters for police personnel at Feyiase Akoyem in the Bosomtwe District of the Ashanti Region.

The two projects which were donated by the chiefs and people of Feyiase-Akoyem cost GH¢80,000. They used to be the palace of the chief of the area and the family house, which have been were refurbished to serve as a police station and residence for six personnel.

The police station would serve communities such as Feyiase-Akoyem, Esreso, Adagya, Aprabo, Aputuogya and Sawuah, among others.

Until the inauguration of the new station, the people in the area had to travel to Jachie, Kuntanase or Asokwa in Kumasi before they could have access to police services.

He commended the people of Feyiase for complementing the effort of the government with the buildings.

The chief of Feyiase-Akoyem, Nana Osei Kufuor III, commended his late uncle, Nana Osei Kufuor II, who started the projects but died before their completion.

He urged the people in the area not to be frightened or intimidated by the presence of the police in the community since they were not there to intimidate them; rather, to protect them from the activities of criminals.

He appealed to the police to check the activities of drivers on the lake road whose activities posed a threat to many residents due to their disregard for laws on safety on the road.

The Ashanti Regional Commander of Police, DCOP Augustine Gyenning, warned criminals in the country that the police would do everything to take the war against criminals to wherever they (criminals) were located.

He said the police would not sit aloof for criminals to threaten the lives of peace-loving citizens, and said everything would be done to curb the operations of criminals.

The District Chief Executive for Bosomtwe, Ms Veronica Antwi-Adjei, in her address, pledged to support the police in the area of infrastructural development to enhance their operation.
