The police in Kumasi have arrested two persons for allegedly manufacturing and selling fake DV plates.

The suspects, Halidu Issah, 23, and Osei Kwadwo, 47, were arrested in their hideout at Bekwai roundabout in Kumasi.

According to the police, the two are part of a syndicate engaged in the sales of vehicle trade plates, also known as DV plates.

A search team retrieved 24 fake DV plates and 24 logbooks from the hideout.

Ashanti Regional Police PRO, ASP Godwin Ahianyo, called on the public to report illegal activities to the police to help combat crime.

“The general public is being advised to be on the lookout for persons engaged in illegal activities and inform the police. Effort to combat crime should be balanced with timely public information for the police to arrest suspects,” he noted.

The police are on the lookout for other accomplices in the production and sale of the fake DV plates.

Meanwhile, the police are soliciting public assistance in the arrest of suspects who murdered Okyere Amankwah, a taxi driver at Ninting in Ashanti Mampong last week.

Any information on the victim’s taxi with registration AC 1205-17 should be reported to the nearest police station.
