Anwona (Ash), Dec 19, GNA - A District Chief Executive has appealed to cocoa farmers who have still not registered with the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) have been urged to register with the scheme and also pay up their premiums.

Mr Peter Kwabena Ameyaw, the District Chief Executive for Adansi North, said this when he visited some cocoa farming communities as part of his tour of the district.

The communities included Anwona, Mensahkrom, Biakwaso, Aboabo and Nsokote.

Mr Ameyaw stressed the importance of NHIS and appealed to the people to embrace it.

The DCE commended the people of Anwona for registering with the scheme and paid up their premiums. Mr Ameyaw said there was no point for anybody to be pessimistic about the NHIS since it was an idea aimed at improving access to health care at affordable cost.
