The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ellembelle District of the Western Region, Mr. Kwasi Bonzoh has donated some Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) to the Health Directorate in the area to be used to curb the spread of the deadly Coronavirus pandemic.

The donation follows an appeal made by the Medical Superintendent of the Eikwe Saint Martin de Pores Hospital, Dr. Paul Cooper when the DCE and Ellembelle District Coronavirus Committee visited the Isolation Center at the facility to assess it (Isolation Center).

The items included; five (5) boxes of Latex Powered Examination Gloves, twelve (12) thermometer infrared guns, nose masks.

The DCE also took the opportunity to distribute 100 Veronica buckets with stands, tissue papers, alcoholic-based hand sanitizers, washing bowls and dustbins to some communities and other institutions in the area.

He therefore took his sensitization campaign on COVID-19 to some communities in the district.

He dubbed his sensitization campaign as "Stay home, prevention is better than cure", which was intensified.

He emphasized on the need for frequent and proper hand washing habits and social distancing protocol.

At Adubrim Community, Mr. Kwasi Bonzoh exhibited to the residents on how they should wash their hands. He said they should wash their hands always within 42 seconds with any soap under running water.

"Please everybody should see how I am washing my hands, we have a away of doing it so let us all learn how to do wash our hands, it is good to use soap to wash your hands under running water than always relying on sanitizers, we only use sanitizers when you are travelling", he urged.

He also pleaded with them to wash fruits and vegetables thoroughly before eating them.

In an interview with GhanaWeb's Western Regional Correspondent Daniel Kaku after the campaign, the DCE pledged to mobilise more resources to procure more PPEs and other items such as Veronica buckets, sanitizers, tissue papers and soaps and supply to all the Communities and institutions within his jurisdiction.

He disclosed that the thermometer infrared guns would be given to Frontline Health Workers working at the Eikwe Saint Martin de Pores Hospital Isolation Center.

He took the opportunity to thank the Ghana Gas Company for supporting the Assembly with GHC30,000 adding that the money would be used to achieve its intended purpose.

He appealed to other companies in the area to emulate what Ghana Gas Company had done.

He advised the residents to report to the hospital as quickly as possible when there were symptoms of the deadly Coronavirus.

He spoke against the politicization of the Coronavirus and commended the residents of Ellembelle District for not politicizing the disease.

Receiving the items, the District Health Director of Ellembelle, Dr. Augustine Amoako thanked the DCE for the kind gesture and promised to handle the infrared guns to the Eikwe Saint Martin de Pores Hospital as soon as possible.

He, therefore seized the exciting opportunity to commend the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area Emmanuel Armah Kofi-Buah and the DCE for their support offered the Health Directorate since the outbreak of the deadly Coronavirus in Ghana.

"In fact the Member of Parliament here and the DCE have done well, they have been providing us with PPEs, we are most grateful to them and some companies who has supported us, God bless them", he said.

He revealed that so far the Ellembelle District has not recorded any confirmed cases of the Coronavirus and was optimistic that the District would not record any case.

So far, Ghana has recorded 408 confirmed cases with 8 deaths.
