An NGO assists 50 needy children and their mothers to access NHIS

Jasikan, May 04, GNA - A Jasikan-based Non-Governmental Organization, Rock of Hope Foundation (RHF), is sponsoring 50 needy children and their mothers to register and access the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

The NGO paid the premiums of 100,000 cedis each for the children who included orphans and their foster mothers.

Reverend Benard Asare, Executive Director of the NGO said in addition, it had instituted a scholarship scheme for the children and would pay their school fees and provide education materials from kindergarten to the tertiary level. He said 20 new children and their mothers would be added to the scheme annually.

Rev. Asare said currently, the NGO paid 80, 000 cedis a month for a child in the kindergarten, 120,000 cedis a month per child at the basic level and feed 22 children once a day from September this year. In a related development, the NGO has received 800 boxes containing assorted toys and education materials from Samaritan Purse-Ghana office, for distribution to children within Jasikan District.

Recipients would be the 600 members of Bible Classes established by the NGO.
