Founder and leader of Ghana Union Movement (GUM), Rev Christian Kwabena Andrew has accused President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of endorsing illegal mining by his party members.

The man of God at the launch of his party’s manifesto said the creation of the inter-ministerial task force on illegal mining was an agenda to protect illegal miners who are registered members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The man of God who is popularly known as Osofo Kyiri Abosom slammed the president for allegedly allowing his party members to continue engaging in illegal mining.

He insisted the president has used the security agencies to protect illegal miners who are recognised as NPP members.

To the president, he said, God will punish him for endorsing galamsey and allowing his party supporters to engage in the unlawful act.

The police and military personnel he added are not supposed to be protecting illegal miners, but for fear of losing their jobs, they have been forced to do so.

”Nana Addo’s agenda to stop illegal mining was a scam. He set up the illegal mining task force to protect his party supporters engaging in illegal mining. The plan was to arrest poor illegal miners and allow his party supporters to engage in the practice. He is using the police and military for this agenda… Nana Addo, why should you allow your party supporters to engage in illegal mining? God will not forgive you for allowing your well to do ministers to engage in illegal mining,” he added.
