About 20 muscled irate youth belonging to the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Upper West Akyem District of the Eastern Region, on Friday, 31 August 2018, lunged at the District Chief Executive for the area, Eugene Sackey, in an attempt to beat him for, allegedly, accusing them of destroying a grader belonging to the Assembly.

The angry NPP youth also said the DCE has been hobnobbing with members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the area.

The youth, in unison, surged at the DCE at a public function at Adeiso, where he had gone to inaugurate a new complex for the District Assembly, plunging the whole event into chaos, in the process.

The attack happened just when the DCE was about to deliver his speech at the event.

Class91.3FM’s correspondent, Kwame Appiah Kubi, reported that but for the intervention of some police officers at the event, the irate youth would have beaten the DCE.
