It’s unfortunate you’ve re-kindled your ‘age-old habit of using violence’ to solve problems - N/R NPP to NDC

The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has condemned last weekend’s violence by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) that has resulted in the attack and injuring of the Regional Secretary, Salisu Be-Awuribe.

He was beaten to pulp by members of a vigilante group of the party known as Al Qaeda as reported by MyNewsGh.com, sustained severe wounds and had windshield of his vehicle smashed by the hoodlums who it is gathered are averse to his style of managing the secretariat of the party.

The NPP in a statement issued and signed by its Regional Secretary, Sulley Sambian and copied to MyNewsGh.com stated “Remember your penchant for violence and treachery endangers all of us as Northerners and cast a pessimistic spin on the future of politics in the region.

The NPP and northerners, in general, must therefore be awake to the collective and corporate damage that this has on all of us. Morality, politics and the law imposes an obligation on us to at all times keep the peace”

November 3rd 2018, is a date which will live in infamy in the Northern Region as the Region was needlessly plunged into confusion by the lovers of violence-NDC, over issues that could have been peacefully handled had they applied the requisite tact and diligence!

November 3rd 2018 was indeed a date that witnessed one of the worst kind of terror and dastardly acts of violence meted by the NDC against itself.

And what was the issue? A simple dispute over the convening of a Regional Executive Meeting led to the invasion of the tranquility that we had hitherto enjoyed in the region.

That people could engage in such level of atrocity against their kind even baffles the less fertile mind. Sadly, this comes at the time the NDC is battling with “just one p3” challenge thrown to them by the Vice president, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

There is no blinking at the fact that the NDC is an extremely violent party;for them to have engaged in acts of butchering themselves with offensive weapons reinforces our position that they are violent, and they thrive on violence.

Well, can we really blame them? This is a political party which is founded on violence. The historical antecedents to its formation leaves no one in doubt that they are a violent breed. Perhaps a few examples will suffice: In 2009 or there about, a member of the NPP was butchered to death at Agbogbloshie in Accra.

Houses belonging to NPP members in the Northern Region have been burnt in the past. Azorka boys are reputed to have engaged in all manner violent acts not just against the NPP in by-elections but against fellow NDC members in their competitive internal elections.

Remember your penchant for violence and treachery endangers all of us as Northerners and cast a pessimistic spin on the future of politics in the region. The NPP and northerners in general must therefore be awake to the collective and corporate damage that this has on all of us.

Morality, politics and the law imposes an obligation on us to at all times keep the peace.

The fact that the NPP has been living in peace in the Northern Region after our regional elections is not suggestive in the least that we do not have disputes;we do. It is called tolerance, or more aptly put, a pretentious calm. So please learn from us.

We are in the light of the foregoing, calling on the security agencies in the region to promptly investigate the matter and bring perpetrators to book.

Long Live Ghana

Long Live the NPP.

Sulley Sambian

Northern Regional Secretary, NPP
