Go slow on Montie 3 - Ofosu Ampofo begs Judges

Mr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo Mr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo

First Vice National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Ofosu Ampofo has appealed to the Supreme Court Judges to "go slow" on the Montie FM contemnors.

The trio at the centre of the contempt suit, Salifu Maase alias Mugabe, Alistair Tahiru Nelson and Godwin Ako-Gunn have erred but as they await their sentencing; Mr. Ofosu Ampofo believed the Judges would be merciful towards them.

Adding his voice to numerous calls on the Judges to temper justice with mercy, he referred to the dictum that says "what's good for the goose is good for the gander"; connoting that some people were not imprisoned while others were given lighter sentences though they equally made contemptuous remarks about Ghana's judicial system.

Mr. Ofosu Ampofo's plea comes on the heels of Monday's court ruling in which the contemnors were convicted for scandalizing the court, defying and lowering the authority of the court, and bringing it into disrepute.

The culprits await a final verdict on Wednesday, July 27.

Samuel Ofosu Ampofo opined on 'Kokrokoo' that "even though they have convicted them and they’re awaiting sentencing, I will also add my plea to the numerous pleas going on that they must temper justice with mercy and go slow on these guys because I believe it’s a lesson for everyone.”
