Election 2020: Mahama’s candidacy will make NPP’s campaign easy - Ken Agyapong

Should the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) decide to field former President John Mahama for the second time, the campaign of the NPP would have been made very easy.

This is according to the Member of Parliament for Assin Central Honourable Kennedy Agyapong.

MYNEWSGH.com observed the Member of Parliament for Assin Central rejoicing and laughing over the hint that President John Mahama could make a comeback.

“Oooh, he will make our campaign very easy, I can assure you of that”. Ken Agyapong said, laughing heartily.

MYNEWSGH.com some few weeks ago confirmed that the ‘John Mahama 2020’ camp had acquired the services of the former Alabi campaign manager, Danny Anang who had served as NDC Greater Accra Regional Chairman and as National Vice Chairman before he lost in the last NDC delegates election in Kumasi.

Mr John Mahama, though yet to declare his intentions, MYNEWSGH.com learnt, is surreptitiously gathering a team underground for his 2020 comeback, with the party’s Central Regional Chairman Allotey Jacobs confirming that Mr Mahama will actually be declaring his intentions ‘soon’.

Mr Alban S.K Bagbin, another contender for the NDC Flagbearership had earlier accused John Mahama of possessing a body language that showed he wants to run, but won’t openly say so.

Mr Bagbin alleged that the numerous unity walks organized by Mahama crony Kojo Bonsu and Joshua Akamba and being hijacked by Mr John Mahama was part of a grand scheme to keep Mr Mahama as the dominant figure in the NDC, to smoothen his victory at the NDC’s delegates Congress slated for September this year.

Contenders so far

Prof Joshua Alabi and Dr Spio Garbrah have called the unity walk- the latest of which is to take place in Ashanti Region - as a sham which has not achieved any unity beyond propping up Mr John Mahama.

With Mahama’s possible candidature now clearly in the picture, it brings to a total number six, the people who have so far declared their intentions to contest the NDC primaries key among them being, in no particular order, Prof Joshua Alabi, Mr Stephen Atubiga, Dr Ekow Spio-Garbrah, Mr Sylvester Adinam Mensah, Alban Sumana Kingsford Gbagbin and somehow, if he meant it, Mr Braimah Kamoko popularly known as Bukom Banku.
