Ejisu NPP denies kidnapping of party member

The Ejisu constituency branch of the governing New Patriotic Party(NPP) in the Ashanti Region has jumped to the defence of two-party executives who were arrested by the police last week for allegedly kidnapping a party member.

The two are said to have kidnapped Mr Osei Kweku following a disagreement over a registration exercise.

But in a statement, the Ejisu constituency described the report as false, urging the public to treat it with the contempt that it deserves.

“The facts are inconsistent with the kidnap tale we’re being told and the accusations against two officers of our party. It is part of an evil political plot by people known to be doing everything to replace the sitting MP, Kwabena Owusu Aduomi with John Kumah, Chief Executive Officer of National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Plan. Why will anybody want to abduct Mr Osei Kweku, what is the motivation and for what purpose? We simply don’t get it.

“The man playing victim had rather assaulted and seized the party’s register compiled by one of its agents. He fled when he was accosted and returned the document, we do not have anything against people contesting any political office they qualify to hold. But we have everything against mischief, bad political conduct, anything toxic, tasteless and not noble. Those seeking elective positions must demonstrate high level of honesty and move away from childish pranks that tend to create needless tension and distraction in the party.” Excerpts of the statement read.
