A stalwart of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and a former Minister of Transport, Hon. Mike Hammah has served a warning to the party to be prepared for another defeat if it does not change its old ways.

According to him, the party needs to work really hard in order to capture power in 2020 as the race will not be easy considering the turn of events.

He explained that power might elude the NDC party if it keeps up with its current pace of preparation and therefore needs to redouble its efforts by changing the game plan if it desires to capture back power.

‘Success is not instantaneous. Success is when opportunity meets preparation. We need to be solidly prepared and put in much effort if we really mean to oust the NPP in 2020’’, he advised.

The former Minister who served under erstwhile [late] John Evans Atta-Mills’ administration asked the party to give its leadership mandate to men with integrity and merge the grassroots into the core of the party’s political agenda in order to present a solid front to face the NPP.

‘’The only way we can capture power again is by electing the right people, by giving our mandate to people with integrity and merging the grassroots with our political agenda. If we don’t do this, then it’s going to be difficult. We have the opportunity but we must be prepared.’’

Hon. Mike Hammah made this assertion on Kumasi based Angel FM in an interview with Kwame Tanko (KT) monitored by MyNewsGh.com.com.

His comments come a fortnight after former President John Dramani Mahama revealed that only a stronger and a United National Democratic Congress (NDC) will win the 2020 polls as reported by MyNewsGh.com

He charged branch executives who he described as the strength of the party to redouble their efforts in reorganization to ensure this does not become a mirage.

Speaking to party supporters in the Northern Region, Mr Mahama said the defeat of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2016 polls was orchestrated by God in order for Ghanaians to appreciate the achievements of the party chalked under his watch.

“Sometimes you may yearn for something and God will deny you. God is the only person who can explain why you are being denied. In 2016 we wanted power but God denied us because if we had been given Ghanaians would not have appreciated our achievements”, he said in Dagbanli.
