The Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Albany Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, will on Monday, August 13, 2018, present a letter to the General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to officially declare his intention to contest the flagbearer position of the party, kasapafmonline.com understands.

His entry into the race will bring to nine the number of aspirants who have written to officially declare their intention to contest the flagbearership position in an election scheduled to take place on December 7, 2018 at a yet to be decided location.

Hon. Bagbin who is also the lawmaker for Nadowli/Kaleo and longest serving MP will therefore be locking horns with the likes of Mr. Sylvester Mensah, Dr. Ekow Spio-Garbrah, Prof. Joshua Alabi, Stephen Abubiga (the poor boy from Binduri), Hon. Kweku Ricketts-Hagan and Elikplim Agbemava amongst others.

The letter of intent was occasioned by a directive from the leadership of the party who argues that it will enable them to monitor closely the campaign activities of all the aspirants.

Hon. Bagbin, according to a source closer to him, will immediately proceed to the Volta Region where he is expected to commence his campaign after submitting his letter of intent.

His tour to the strong hold of the NDC, the source further hinted, will be led by former Members of Parliament (MPs) in the region.
