Re: Akufo-Addo’s bodyguard punches oldman for prot

The Rwandan genocide was fanned by an irresponsible local media. Elsewhere in the world, the flames of war and anarchy have been fanned by irresponsible journalists with their own sinister agenda. In Ghana, in order to avoid the deception that characterises media reports, and the possible unpredictable dire consequences, it is prudent, that one should not take at face value, what one reads in a newspaper, and jump to hasty conclusions. In this particular case, the reporter records the case of: "...an old man who was brutally PUSHED (my emphasis)...by a bodyguard". However, the title of the report states: "Akufo-Addo bodyguard punches old man..." The reporter wants to create the impression in the mind of the reader, that the words "punch" and "push" are interchangeable, in order to portray the bodyguard as having used excessive force in the circumstances. Besides, with the same goal, the reporter refers to the person who was "pushed" or "punched" as an "old man". However in the video, only the back of the head of the person is shown. How did the reporter conclude, from looking at the back of the head of the person, that he was an "old man"? To further challenge this dubious claim, we are told, that the "old man" quickly got to his feet, in order to avoid the wheel of the President's vehicle. Now from experience, an old man who has fallen down as a result of a "punch" from a "hefty bodyguard", would need assistance to regain his feet. The "old man" in this report was an exception, because he got up on his own, with alacrity. Granted, that this person was an "old man" as claimed, how was the bodyguard supposed to know his intention? Was it not a case of better keep the President safe, than be sorry? Countrymen (countrywomen), let us not always fall prey to the deception and trickery of the media. Let us analyse media reports critically before reacting, else a time may come when Ghanaian will turn on Ghanaian with violence, because media reports.
