You might have a point there with those tax waivers. However, if the company is pricing the commodity at below market rates, then obviously, it would reflect as losses and with some of these agreements, I think when losses are incurred, it makes nonsense of the taxes that should come to the State. It's a PPP arrangement which is very acceptable as it protects the public interest. It is when there is laxity in monitoring for whatever reason, which allows the State to be shortchanged, that makes it problematic, most often with the active connivance of our own. Gov't owns some percentage in the agreement. So who was representing Ghana's interest in the agreement? And why were they allowing the commodity to be underpriced against he prevailing market conditions?
