Disqualified candidates for constituency level elections can go to hell if they choose according to Northern Regional Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Sofo Awudu Azorka.

According to him, they are at liberty to leave the party and join any political party of their choice if they feel disgruntled by their disqualification from running for executive positions in the party.

There was near fisticuffs at the Northern Regional Secretariat of the party after some persons refused to accept the results of a vetting from a committee which disqualified them from running for positions.

While the Director of Elections, Tanko Rashid Computer was announcing their verdict to them, they were heard on the background shouting that they would not in any way accept what had been put out by the committee and threatened mayhem.

“We are not going anywhere. We mean business”, one of them said.

But the Regional Chairman, who is also the founder of ‘Azorka Boys’ a vigilante group associated with the NDC, was seen throwing jabs at the disgruntled candidates saying “I swear God if anyone makes the least mistake we will deal with the person. If you desire you can quit the party.

Meanwhile, one Abass who was disqualified from contesting told MyNewsGH.com that the justification by the interview panel was that he insulted the Regional Chairman on TV.

He blamed the fight that nearly erupted at the party’s headquarters to similar frivolous reasons for the disqualification of several others including a former Youth Employment Agency (YEA) District Coordinator who said his refusal to give a quota of youth employment to the executives when they demanded is to blame for his woes.
