Crowd at NDC Cape Coast Unity Walk was bought - Minister

The NDC held a unity walk last weekend in Cape Coast The NDC held a unity walk last weekend in Cape Coast

The unity walk held by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Cape Coast over the weekend was reported to have attracted record figures which the party has run to town with.

Many political analysts have criticized the “Unity Walk” describing it as incapable of bringing members together as claimed.

The ruling party New Patriotic Party (NPP) has said it’s only a way to promote former President Mahama to come for 2020 elections.

However, Mr Kwamena Duncan, who is the Central Regional Minister has alleged that, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) paid non members an amount between GH¢ 100.00, or GH ¢ 50.00 to attend the walk.

Responding to claims as to whether the NDC’s unity walk could drown the fortunes of the NPP and  Nana Addo’s government, he said:”If you put vehicles across the region and give people GH¢100.00 or GH¢50.00 and bring them to one point how can that shake us?” he quizzed.

He further stated that officials did it in a way to get some little income into their pockets.

The Minister in the wake of his interview with Accra Fm said: “the good people of the region are seeking their welfare….. on what will make them as families, workers, individuals and not what the NDC did. They think on policies implemented by the government that will help them move on in life. The burdens that have been taken off them. Those are the things that are engaging the minds of the good people of this region”.

However, Mr Samson Ahiayor, the Central Regional Secretary of the NDC rubbished the alleged claims by Mr Duncan describing them as palpable lies. “We didn’t even give them water. We have grown in politics, so there are some issues we talk about in the past which need to stop today”.

The regional secretary explained that, the party even prevented those from afar not to come for walk and that has even created problems for them hence the party could not have paid monies to those who were close to the venue.
