The Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu has renewed calls for the current New Patriotic Party (NPP) government to stop harassing public servants in state institutions in the country in the name of partisan politics.

He observed that practice where victims of such incidents are subjected to all manner of harassments and dismissals despite being genuinely employed to contribute their quota to the development of the country must come to an end.

Addressing participants at the commemoration of the 38th June 4 celebrations held in Wa, the Tamale South lawmaker said the continued harassments and dismissals of genuine working Ghanaians in these places, does not augur well for the development of the country.

“There is still discrimination in this country. Today as I speak, if you go to public and civil government entity, you will hear these are NPP men, those are NDC men. Let this group go home. That is political discrimination. We demand an end to it. The fact you have inherited a political system that you yourself admit that has a coexistence of NPP, NDC means it existed before you got there. If you cannot do anything about it, allow the status quo. We demand the an end to the continuous harassment and dismissal of public and civil servants from the current administration”, he stated

According to him, it is incumbent of every government irrespective of the party in power to uphold the principles of probity and accountability which are the values of June 4th underscoring the need for the country not to deviate from such rudiments which are critical for democracy.
