NDC executives rise to the defense of Baba Kamara

Baba Kamara Baba Kamara

Executives of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the salaga south constituency have debunked accusations leveled against the former national security advisor to the president Alhaji Baba Kamara in a petition titled “Why the Party Lost the Salaga South Seat” to the Dr Kwesi Botchwey led investigative committee

In the said petition as part of processes to unravel the cause of the NDC’s abysmal performance in the 2016 elections, a section of the youth is blaming Baba Kamara for the disgraceful defeat of particularly the former Member of Parliament (MP) of the constituency Alhaji Ibrahim Abubakari Dey.

But the communications officer of the party Mr Taufik Mustapha said Baba Kamara has been a pillar in NDC in the constituency since 1992 and that he does not understand why people will want to tarnish his hard earned reputation.

“I can’t quantify the amount of money and logistics he Kamara and other individuals have supported the party with especially in the 2016 general elections” he said.

Mr. Taufik added that the petition signed by the nine people claiming to be members of the party are not executives and do not know what resources come to the party and through who. “We receive items on behalf of the MP and the party so how can they know who supported the party. How can someone want to show the MP where power lies and still give him money worth thousands of cedis” he asked.

He therefore called on the general public especially supporters of NDC to remain calm as they audit the promises made to Ghanaians by Akufo-Addo and his New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The MP for salaga South constituency Salifu Adams Braimah has however debunked portions of the petition that Baba Kamara gave him money to campaign. He said” I won the elections on grounds of confidence and trust the people had in me and didn’t take a dime from Kamara as alleged in the petition. I am interested in the development of Salaga South constituency and East District at large and that was why my people voted me” he added.
