which fool came up with the idea of making Akan the official language,its not only disrespectful to the other languages but the most stupid idea i have seen a Ghanaian come up with....First of all,if you open your mind and think globally,you would see why Ghana is lucky to be english speaking,....but thats not even the issue,Once you make one language official,you are killing the other languages,all the languages of Ghana are part of the Ghanaian culture and should all be encouraged,infact i think there should be awards or some kind of schorlaship in schools for children who are able to speak 4 or 5 ghanaian languages fluently.In so doing,We encourage all the languages but maintain english as it is now and have always been.Some Akans are the ones who keep coming up with this stupid idea,its a stupid idea,they should stop coming up with it if they care about the whole country as one and not just some part.

You are right in saying that we should encourage literacy in our indigenous languages. This would be enhanced if we used our indigenous languages as medium of instruction in our schools. It would be even better to use one as our official language. We could still learn English as a foreign language to aid international communication.

You do not need to say everything in our indigenous languages. The English language keeps borrowing from other languages.
As a language develops, it absorbs concepts from other languages and peoples.
Let us adopt one of our indigenous languages as our official language,encourage literacy in our languages, and use them as medium of instruction in our schools.

We need to take pride in what is our own and develop our indigenous languages. We can still learn English as a foreign language for international communication.
It is very sad that middle-class Ghanaian children are being brought up speaking English at home. Some cannot even speak their mother tongues or indigenous languages.
Most of us Ghanaians do not speak English, and those who speak it do not speak it particularly well.
Let us adopt one of our indigenous languages as our official language, and encourage literacy in all of them.
