What a blunder! Or, are we to take it that Gen. Mosquito assumes all Ghanaians accept Nepotism as a normal, everyday practice of our Society? Well, the practice is immoral, undemocratic, and unfair to all. It does not help distribute the national cake fairly and meritoriously. So, we should not probably vote for a Party that fails to see the negative effects of such an insidious social behavior.
Nevertheless, I strongly believe Dr. Bawumia could have done just as well on his own, even if his father's clout in the NDC was part of the reason he got the Scholarship. Bawumia is a Ghanaian and if his Academic prowess was good enough for the Scholarship, he was entitled to the opportunity just as every other Ghanaian.
Moreover, even if we could agree that Dr. Bawumia sprung off a silver platter, he didn't have to sell his soul to the devil if he upholds the moral principle of helping to build a better Society than what he grew up in. Nothing bars him from applying better methodologies than those of his forebears to improve the larger Society.
Gen. Mosquito presents a very parochial-minded proposition, here-- and one that surely is inimical to our Society's growth and deepening of our Democracy.
