CODEO no doubt has booked a place in the electoral space of Ghana as far as electoral observations in Ghana is concern, looking at the long legal battle regarding the Npp,s petition against the 2012 presidential elections, the first of its kind in the history of Ghana,I ll like to see CODEO do proper independent evaluation of the whole process right from the registration to the day of the poles throughout to the declaration and the court ruling and its recommendations.Everybody in this country heard all kinds of allegations and counter allegations until the final ruling as a saving bell to the tensions all across the country,as we gear towards another major elections,we can not wait Until we re confronted with the same problems. The attitude of the current EC boss is not encouraging in my estimation though many believe she needs time to operate,as a lawyer and public administrator and a former head of the NCCE,one would've expert that her appreciation of the electoral issue as it ware must not appear new to her, besides the EC has lost reasonable credibility out there regarding the memory failures of Afari Gyan the immediate past chairman of the EC to the extent that he could not define what over voting means to the whole world.Again comes the appointment of the EC boss by the president who is a player in the upcoming elections, this no doubt increased the suspicion that she can be neutral as the constitution mandates her.So the delay by the EC to determine the way forward on the register is worrisome, constituting a 5 member committee which promoted some debate on the political background of the members raises concerns on her individual capabilities as the chairman of the EC.In conclusion I ll call on all stakeholders far and near to observe closely the action of the EC boss, relevant recommendations made by the Supreme Court must be apply as we may not be lucky to get away with the crimes that was committed by the EC which repercussions will affect all of us should they fail to discharge their constitutional duties effectively,I rest my case.
