Beware Of NPP Politics Of Gossip, Lies-Victor Smith

Eastern Regional Minister, Ambassador Victor Smith has underscored the need for Ghanaians to know the truth in order to avoid becoming victims of the lies, smear and gossip campaign the NPP is embarking upon to deceive and steal their mandate.
According to Victor Smith, time has come for Ghanaians to ensure that people with vision, good track record, integrity, credibility, and above all God fearing are given the mandate to lead this country and not visionless and desperate individuals greedy for power for themselves and their cronies.
He reiterated his determination to expose the misinformation and misrepresentation concerning government’s massive development programs in the region in particular and the nation at large under the Better Ghana Agenda of the NDC.
Speaking at a press conference at the EREDEC Hotel in Koforidua to explain how the Better Agenda is impacting positively on the region and to diffuse the deliberate distortions and lies being peddled by the NPP and some political activists, he pledged to ensure that the truth is told to help the Ghanaian electorate make informed decision based on truth and not lies, deception and gossip campaign.
He stated, “It is regrettable that as the political campaign heats up, some politicians instead of engaging in healthy debates on issues of vision, policies and programmes that affect the livelihood and future of Ghanaians have rather resorted to vilification, targeting the person of his Excellency the president and fabricating lies and falsehood, and even going to the extent of pasting them in printed form all over.”
He stressed that any Ghanaian aspiring to rule the country must have a vision of his own and qualities bothering on good track record, selflessness, integrity, credibility, humbleness and God fearing.
These, he argued, are qualities the flagbearer of the NPP, Nana Akufo-Addo do not possess.
“There is no doubt that he has no vision of his own that can benefit anyone but he and his cronies. He is only pursuing his personal desires and ambition to be president at all cost, and this is clear from his infamous All-die-be-Die statement.”
“Is it any wonder that he would make an irresponsible statement like ‘all die be die’ and still wants to justify it? Who should die for him to become president,” Ambassador Smith queried?
The credibility and track record of the NPP flagbearer as a Member of Parliament for Abuakwa and also a Minister of State is nothing to write home about since the area still lacks the necessary development to propel its growth.
“Opinion leaders in the area have expressed their disappointment at the failure of Nana Addo to transform Kibi and its environs after twelve years as the political leader in the area and all his acclaimed ‘political powers”.
“They wonder how he could lead Ghana where the task is more challenging and could only be addressed by people with organizational capabilities.”
“If he has no vision to see to the development and upliftment of his brothers and sisters and constituents in just one constituency when he was so well placed to do so, how can anyone believe him if he promises to bring development to the 275 constituencies in Ghana,” he questioned?
Disputing claims by the opposition NPP that it can manage the nation’s purse better than the ruling NDC, the Eastern regional Minister recounted how the Kufuor administration managed the economy to the benefit of few family members and cronies that led to scandals including the Hotel Kufuor saga, the Gizelle Yadzie saga, the Haruna Esseku kickback brouhaha, sale of Ghana Airways and the sale of Ghana Telecom for a song.
Some Municipal and District Assemblies from the region showcased pictures of developmental projects undertaking by the NDC government in the various districts since 2009.
Some of the DCEs also took the opportunity to explain issues relating to developmental projects in their areas.
Also in attendance were some regional party executives and NPP defectors who were there to also tell Ghanaians why President John Mahama will be a better choice in the upcoming elections than Nana Akufo-Addo.
